Tom Maier joined Carlton Capital Partners in June, 2008 after a short period of managing private client portfolios at Fielding Investment Management Limited.
Prior to this, Tom spent 24 years at Baring Asset Management as investment manager, managing a wide variety of global and regional portfolios over his career. For 17 years he was a member of the firm’s strategic asset allocation committee, determining asset and sector preferences on a global basis including emerging markets. From managing EAFE and global equity portfolios for North American clients, he progressed to become Head of Multi-asset portfolios for Asian clients. In 2002, he was appointed Head of Alternative Investments and Chairman of the Alternative Investment Committee. In 2003, in addition to managing Baring Hedge Select Fund (global multi-strategy), he launched Baring Asia Hedge Select Fund, a fund investing in Asian hedge funds.
Tom joined Barings in 1982 to specialise in Japanese, Pacific and Australian investments, living in both Hong Kong and Tokyo. He returned to London headquarters in 1988. Tom is a graduate of Imperial College, London University.
